The Good German, and Valkyrie, were on board a Bellanca 17-30A Super Viking, registered with the FAA. The ill-fated journey was intended to take them from Bequia to St. Lucia, but the aircraft encountered difficulties just moments after takeoff, plunging into the ocean.

The incident occurred around 12:11 p.m. local time after departing from J.F. Mitchell Airport. Fishermen and divers swiftly responded to the crash site in a desperate attempt to assist, and the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Coast Guard was promptly alerted. Unfortunately, despite the immediate response, all four occupants, including pilot and owner Robert Sachs of Bequia, succumbed to the crash.

Robert Sachs, identified as the owner and pilot of the aircraft, was also tragically killed. He had attended high school in New Jersey and was the proprietor of a scuba diving center named Dive Bequia. Sachs, passionate about his aircraft, had shared videos on his Facebook account expressing pride in his flying adventures just last year.

The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force, expressing condolences to all affected by the tragedy, stated that the bodies were recovered by Coast Guard personnel and taken to a mortuary in Kingstown, where postmortem examinations will be conducted to determine the causes of death. The investigation into the crash is currently underway.

As news of the devastating incident spread, an unverified video depicting the moment of impact surfaced on social media. The footage seems to capture the aircraft hitting the water at a steep angle. Witnesses described the sound as resembling a struggling vehicle, hinting at possible mechanical difficulties during the ill-fated flight.

Christian Klepser, originally from Frankfurt, Germany, had shared a poignant picture on his Instagram account in the days leading up to the crash. The image, featuring a beach at sunset, carried a caption that read, “Let Love Rule. Wishing all of you the best for 2024!”
